What we keep, and why
Applies to tabipuzzles.com and play.tabipuzzles.com, and to takarapuzzle.com and kishapuzzle.com, which now lead there. Last updated 28 September 2026.
In short:
- You can play without an account. Your progress then stays in your own browser.
- An account is optional. It needs an email address and a password, and it is only used to keep your progress in step across devices and, if you subscribe, for Tabi Pro.
- No ads, no tracking cookies, and we never sell or share your data.
Who we are
Tabi Puzzles makes the puzzles Takara and Kisha. Tabi Puzzles is run by J Katerberg Holding B.V., a Dutch private limited company, which is responsible for the personal data described on this page. Questions or requests: [email protected].
Playing without an account
- Your progress (your lines, times and solved puzzles) and your settings are stored in your browser's local storage, on your own device. We don't receive them.
- Solve times. When you finish a puzzle, your time and your solution are sent to our server, so we can show how your time compares with everyone else's. It is stored with a code that is different for every puzzle, so your times can't be linked to each other or to you.
With an account
- Email address and password. Accounts are handled by Firebase Authentication, a service of Google. Google stores your email address and a secured (hashed) version of your password, and sends the password-reset emails. We never see your password. Google processes this data on our behalf and may do so outside the EU, under its standard data protection terms.
- Your synced progress is stored on our server, linked to your account through a scrambled version of your account ID. It contains the same progress your browser already keeps: lines, times and which puzzles you solved.
- Deleting your account. Open the account panel and choose delete account. This deletes your account and your synced progress for both Takara and Kisha straight away, and cancels a Tabi Pro subscription if you have one. Progress in your browser stays until you clear it.
Tabi Pro
- Payment. Tabi Pro is a subscription of €2 a month. Stripe handles the payment on its own pages: we never see or store your card details. Stripe tells us your email address, your name and country if you give them, and whether your subscription is active. Stripe processes payments as an independent party under its own privacy policy, and may do so outside the EU.
- What we keep. On our server we keep, per subscriber, the Stripe customer and subscription reference, the subscription's status and the date it renews or ends, linked to your account through a scrambled version of your account ID. That is what decides whether the premium puzzles are unlocked for you.
- Cancelling. Choose manage subscription in the account panel to cancel or change your card; you keep Tabi Pro until the end of the month you paid for. Deleting your account cancels it straight away.
Visitor statistics
We count visits with GoatCounter, which runs on our own server. It uses no cookies and does not store your IP address. We see which pages were visited, where visitors came from (referring site), browser, operating system, screen size, language and country. This can't be used to identify you.
Other services the sites use
- Our server is a virtual server at TransIP in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. It keeps no logs of IP addresses.
- Cloudflare sits in front of our sites for speed and protection against attacks. It handles every request, including your IP address, and does not share it with us.
- Google Fonts. The fonts are loaded from Google's servers, which means Google sees your IP address when a page loads.
- Stripe. If you subscribe to Tabi Pro or buy us a coffee, the payment is handled entirely by Stripe. We receive the amount and the details you give Stripe, such as your name and email address, to keep our bookkeeping as the law requires.
How long we keep it
- Synced progress and account details: until you delete your account.
- Tabi Pro subscription status: until you delete your account.
- Anonymous solve times and visitor statistics: as long as the puzzles are online.
- Payment records: seven years, as Dutch tax law requires.
Your rights
You can ask us to see, correct, export or delete the personal data we hold about you. Email [email protected] and we'll reply within a month. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
Changes
If we change what we keep, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
