Like Slitherlink? Try Tōdai
Slitherlink is one line drawn round the grid, held in place by numbers that count how much of it passes them. Tōdai is the same pleasure on a different board: one route through the squares, from an entrance to a harbour, and lighthouses whose numbers count how many of the route's squares fall in their light.

What you already know
- One line, no branches. The route never splits, never visits a square twice and has to get from one end to the other, so dead ends and corners force it the way they force a Slitherlink loop.
- Numbers pin it down. Each clue is an exact count of the line it can see, and a small number is often where you start.
- No guessing. Every Tōdai has exactly one solution, and a solver has checked that reasoning alone gets you there.
What is new
- Through squares, not along edges. The route steps from square to square, and it has two ends, the entrance and the harbour, instead of closing into a loop.
- Clues see far. A lighthouse counts along its four beams to the next wall, and mirrors bend those beams, so one clue can reach across the board.
The rules of Tōdai
- Find the one route from the entrance to the harbour 港. It steps up, down, left and right, never crosses a wall, never enters a void, a mirror or a lighthouse, and never visits a square twice.entrancewallvoida line
- A lighthouse shines four beams, up, down, left and right. A beam turns a corner at a mirror — both faces reflect — and stops at a wall, a void, the edge of the board or another lighthouse. A mirror can turn more than one beam, also a beam that another mirror has already turned.lighthousemirror
- Its number is how many route squares its light falls on. The entrance and the 港 count, and a square lit twice counts once. Tap a lighthouse to see its light.lit: 3
